A big welcome to the blog and my plans for the future

Firstly, hello and welcome to OT cooks and eats! I have set this blog up to showcase some of my favourite food and drinks, and to encourage people to make them as well. I have loved good food all my life, and thanks to social media, I would love to share some of that passion with you.

Firstly, a bit about me. I am a law student, currently in my third year at the University of Sheffield. When I’m not at Uni, I live in Hertfordshire with my 2 parents, a brother and a sister, all of whom are crazy about food like me. While I have always eaten well, it is since I have gone to University, and through being able to shop and cook for myself and others, that I have found a passion for cooking and experimenting with new and delicious ingredients. I am particularly drawn to Italian, Mexican and Japanese dishes, but I am conscious I am very new into the world of food and cooking, and have a lot more cuisines to sample before I could even consider narrowing it down to three!

This brings me on to my next point. I am by no means an expert on food. I am 20 years old, and have been properly cooking for less than two years, and I would hate for anyone to think I am some sort of authority on food. There are many blogs, writers and websites out there that can offer a far more qualified, knowledgeable and critical discussion surrounding what we eat and drink. I am writing this blog merely to add my take on various different aspects of food, drink, and the culture of eating and celebrating together. I’d love for you to read it and join me as I journey through this fascinating world, and hopefully you’ll be inspired to cook up some decent scram along the way too.

As for my plans for the blog itself, I’m excited to bring a variety of content to the site. I will share some of my favourite food and drinks from other cooks to hopefully compile a collection of recipes for you to look through. Additionally, I’ll try and write blog posts about my life and food, including good places to eat and drink, and I’ll offer my 2 cents on various aspects of food, cooking and eating. Finally, as I become more confident and experienced in the kitchen, I’ll try and use some of the inspiration around me to hopefully create some recipes of my own in the near future.

I’ve also just set up an Instagram account (@OTCooks_Eats), which will have regular updates on new recipes, blog posts and general foodie goodness. I’d love it if you could give it a follow, and leave some comments underneath the photos – I’m new to the food photography game, and could use all the help I can get!

That’s about it for my first post. I’d love for you to let me know what you think of the various different recipes and blog posts, so please leave a comment beneath any of the posts on here, or any of the photos on my Instagram page.
